November 5th 12:45-2:30 – Content, Language, and Technology

In this workshop you will explore ways to support both content knowledge acquisition and English language development with a variety of tools appropriate for desktop, laptops and tablets. The session will give participants an overview of a language framework for working with ELL students.  Additionally, specific projects and applications that help ELL students develop the full range of language for success in everyday and academic settings will be modeled. Participants will have time to practice, with presenter support, new ideas and tools presented during this session.

Participants will

  • Collaborate with colleagues to explore new tools that can support teaching and learning
  • Identify three levels of learning targets for a science or social studies curriculum goal
  • Create technology rich activities for students to practice with content knowledge and English goals
