Session Description

Learning Management Systems (LMS) enhance digital and virtual learning environments through instructor facilitated course delivery and management. Although our face-to-face, blended, and online university courses utilize a popular higher-education LMS for asynchronous and synchronous content access and delivery, we aim to model the use of and engagement in digital learning environments that teachers can use in K-12 educational contexts. Over the past year, two instructors have adopted Google Classroom to support digital learning and engagement in higher education. This presentation will engage participants in the dynamic features of using Google Classroom as a learning management system, and to support pedagogy, in online university classrooms. We will explore the advantages and challenges of using Google Classroom in higher education through our experience with workflow, communication, collaboration, and assessment.
